Dear Resident, On Wednesday officers from the team took part in a joint Multi-Agency Road Safety Operation with WMP Traffic (Road Harm Prevention Team) and other agencies such as the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and local council licensing. As part of the operation around Twenty vehicles were stopped and checked. Of these a number were seized for offences ranging from displaying false plates to hide the real identity of the vehicle and no insurance. Two vehicles were also issued with prohibition orders due to the condition of the vehicle. On Friday Two of our officers on patrol spotted a vehicle which initial checks showed as having no insurance. Officers stopped and seized the vehicle. The driver was searched and found to be in possession of class A drugs and as a result he was arrested. Officers also conducted roadside drugs checks which returned a positive result for cocaine and cannabis. ![]() On Saturday officers on patrol stopped a vehicle whilst patrolling the local retail park. Checks on the vehicle showed that the vehicle has no Tax or MOT and the driver had no insurance for the vehicle but also didn’t possess a driving licence. The vehicle was seized and the driver reported for the driving offences. Sunday was a busy day with two arrests during the shift for Domestic and sexual offences and officers on patrol stopped a male who was found to be in possession of cannabis. On Monday officers seized this van as it was showing as SORN (SORN stands for Statutory Off Road Notification. It is an official declaration made to the UK’s DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) to inform them that a vehicle is not being used or parked on public roads.) The officers were on enquiries relating to a theft of fuel from a petrol station when they noticed the attempts to hide the vehicles number plate. Checks were made which showed the vehicle was linked to the offender of the theft. The vehicle was taken away by the recovery agent. ![]()
